Today is the 15th day and the 10th month in the year of our Lord 2022.

My name is Sir Roland Paterallat, and you're listening to Saturdays with Sir Roland on Catholic Spouts,

where every Saturday we discuss the art of Dragon Seine.

Today is the memorial of a doctor of the church, St. Teresa of Jesus, also known as Teresa of Avila.

My favorite quote from St. Teresa is this.

Remember that you have only one soul, that you have only one death to die, that you have only one life,

which is short and has to be lived by you alone, and

there is only one glory which is eternal. If you do this, there will be many things about

which you care nothing. St. Teresa reminds us to keep our eyes focused on heaven first and foremost,

and to make the most of this life by striving to be saints and helping souls get to heaven.

I have a very strong connection to this religious sister who reformed the Carmelite order in the 16th century with her prayer, passion, and sacrifices, because I was born on her

feast day. Yes, that means today was the day of my birth, way back in the year of our Lord

1979. Although the most important day of my life came two weeks later on the 30th of October, which is the day of my baptism.

I've been doing this podcast since February, so we're getting to know each other pretty well.

I'm Sir Roland, Faithful Night to the One True Light, and it's nice to

meet you. But no matter how long you've been listening, I'll bet you didn't know, I live

next door to a cow farm. Not a cow farm that produces milk or meat, but a cow farm full of

mama cows raising baby cows out in a huge pasture beside our backyard, separated only by a fence.

Often the cows walk right up to me, especially near our apple tree where they find shade.
