Today is September 13th, and it is the memorial of St. John Chrysostom, who is a bishop and doctor of the church.

Yesterday, we started talking about Blessed Carlo Acutus. We talked a lot about his childhood

and what it was like when he was a little boy growing up. Today I want to talk about what it

was like once Carlo started going to school. Now, Carlo was

incredibly smart. Even as a little boy, he loved computers and his best subject was math. When he was

only eight years old, he suddenly discovered his love for computers and computer science, coding and

learning about how computer systems worked. His mom actually had to go to a

local college because she needed to buy college level textbooks for Carlo because everything else

was either too easy or there just wasn't anything for his age. Even though these were college level

textbooks, Carlo read right through them,

and he could put into practice what he was learning and reading about. Later this week, I'm going to

tell you about how Carlo's love for computers inspired him to create something that we can still use

today. But I'll talk about that on another day. Now, it could have been easy for Carlo to be

prideful about how easy school was for him, because school isn't always easy for everyone. Instead,

he would help his fellow students with their studies. He realized that he had the special gift that

subjects like math and computer science came easily to him.

So he would reach out to his fellow students and classmates and see if they needed help with

their homework. One year, he had a friend who was really struggling to pass her exams and was

pretty worried about what the school year was going to look like for her if she couldn't pass them.

And Carlo would take time after school and tutor her, giving up probably time that he could
