| 0:00.0 | You're listening the Catholic Spouts |
| 0:30.6 | podcast, we are getting back to business as usual. And we are also celebrating the launch |
| 0:37.3 | of our brand new club, the Be a Saint |
| 0:39.2 | Kids Club, by talking about what it actually takes to become a saint in the Catholic Church. |
| 0:45.4 | Now, of course, it takes a life of good and holy works, a true relationship with Jesus Christ, |
| 0:52.0 | so a life of holiness. But what we are going to talk about this week is what it actually takes for the church |
| 0:58.5 | to recognize a saint. |
| 1:01.3 | And all of the events that we'll be talking about need to occur, be investigated, and proven |
| 1:06.5 | to be true after that saint has died. |
| 1:10.0 | But before we get to that, let's talk about the saint that we |
| 1:13.3 | are celebrating today on August 16th. The saint is Saint Rock or St. Rocco. This is a French saint |

| 1:46.3 | devotes his life entirely to prayer and lives completely alone. So after spending many years |
| 1:52.8 | in this deep contemplative state with God, St. Rock left his hermitage and he discovered that |
| 1:59.0 | there was a plague sweeping through France. Of course, |
| 2:02.5 | this is the 1300s. They did not have advanced medicine. So these diseases just spread and |
| 2:08.8 | killed whole regions. For this reason, many people would just leave plague victims to die. |
| 2:17.3 | They would not help them. |
| 2:18.9 | But St. Rock, because he was a holy man, he got to work helping. |
| 2:22.9 | And he was actually seen as a living saint because the people that he was ministering to would actually recover. |
