I'm Alex Capstick and for this week's assignment on the BBC World Service

I'm crossing South Africa in search of a level playing field.

Outside Cape Town is Kailicha, one of the biggest and poorest townships in the country.

Its population of nearly 400,000 is almost exclusively black African.

Life here is tough with little on offer, especially

for young people, except perhaps for this. I want to see you play with a straight bed,

Well this is one of the few cricket facilities in the township of Kailicha

just beyond the wire fence young children are looking on at the ground which is

Friday around 10 boys from local schools come here to get some expert coaching.

Amongst them a 16-year-old who they think has got great potential. His name is

O'Wonke togway. He's a fast bowler and he's just about to step up and bowl in

front of me for the first time.

And that is why people here think he has such a bright future in the game.
