Hello everybody and welcome once again to The View from the Lane, the Athletics Award-winning podcast about Tottenham Hotspur, the most extraordinary football club in the world there.

I've said it because I think it and because I mean it.

To help me, Danny Kelly, unravel the events of 24 hours ago in North London.

I'm delighted to say Jack Pitt Brook is with us and returning from what seems like three months away in Africa for the Afcon.

Delighted say Jay Harris is with us as well, morning both. The roller coaster that Jack so

vividly introduced to us, you know, 18 months ago is now happening within individual football

matches. It's not lumbering from one match to another. It's now happening within individual

games as Spurs yesterday played out a quite extraordinarily flaccid first half against

Manchester City and then I'm not going to continue that analogy then played much better

reached for the sky in the second half against, you know, putative champions of England.

Where do we start?

You just start with your initial reactions.

I find these games delightful to watch in some ways, although I'll tell you what I thought at

half-time a little later,

but they're very hard to analyse, Jay, well, welcome back, by the fact, Jay, to the mad world of Spurs.

Watching the AFCOM, which I'm sure is lovely and chaotic and colourful, as well as some fantastic football,

but you come back to Spurs and then you're into a different kind of world, aren't you, with that game yesterday? And I even thought when I went off at Afcon that maybe the world of Spurs would have settled down by the time I've come back. Very good. I know, especially when the window started with Spurs sign in Conner Gallagher. I thought, okay, there's some positive momentum here. They've identified a target. They've executed it quickly. And then, obviously, the results that followed happened. And I just thought, oh, I'm actually coming back. And the house is on fire. What I'll say about yesterday, and I tweeted this in the first half, there was a point where, to me,

it felt very similar to the 6-3 defeat to Liverpool in December 2024 when Posterogluos didn't

charge. Just that sense of a superior team who, if they really wanted to, could just cause a really

nasty amount of damage, because as you mentioned, spurs in the first half were just apathetic. There was just no, apart from Javi Simmons, no one was giving me any type of
