in which we find out about monsters and creatures from old stories, myths and legends,

where they come from what makes them special and what they eat and do.

And we'll learn a few unusual words along the way.

Picture a towering figure with skin like red hot iron lurking at the edge of a village.

It has sharp claws, wild hair and horns on its head.

It stomps through the shadows.

Its heavy footsteps making the ground tremble.

Two glowing eyes pierce the darkness, searching.

In its massive hand, it clutches a huge club covered in sharp spikes.

It pauses, sniffing the air, then lets out a guttural growl.

The villagers huddle behind closed doors, their lanterns casting fearful shadows on the walls.

The creature raises its cannabo, ready to smash the gates.

Today's featured creature is an ONI.

Oni are scary monsters from Japanese folklore.

They're often shown as demons or ogres with lots of strength and a ferocious glare.

Ferocious means very fierce and cruel.

They can be different sizes and colours.

Sometimes they're red or green.

Sometimes they have horns on their head.

And they often wear very little clothing.
