It doesn't talk or have feelings like we do, but it can be very strong and helpful or dangerous.

Today's featured creature is a Gollum. A Go golem is a creature from Jewish legends.

It's an artificial being, meaning it's made by someone, not born.

If something is artificial, it's made by humans.

It's not natural.

Gollums are often created to do work or protect people.

They're usually controlled by magic words or an object placed inside them.

Gollum stories go back hundreds of years in Jewish tradition.

The earliest stories were about wise and holy people

who could create golems using special rituals and knowledge.

These golems were often made of clay

and were meant to defend innocent people or help with difficult tasks.

The most well-known story about a gollum is the legend of the Gollum of Prague.

In this tale, Rabbi Lowe, a wise leader, created a gollum from clay to defend the Jewish people of Prague.

The Gollum was brought to life by placing a shem under its tongue.

A shem is a piece of paper with a Hebrew word, the name or word of God.

The golem was incredibly strong and helped protect the city.

However, it grew too powerful and uncontrollable.
