Summary

Since we’ve had such a hot, drought-ridden summer, the value of a pond is greater now than ever - perhaps even more valuable for plants and wildlife than a wildflower meadow. Between the lovely beaches from which insects and mammals can safely drink, the rich colour of moisture-loving plants, and the universal charm of Water Lilies, there are so many reasons to create a lovely water feature in your garden. Welcome to GrowCook Eat Arrange, the podcast of me, Sarah Raven and Arthur Parkinson.

0:25.8

And today we're going to talk about something that Arthur is really knowledgeable and enthusiastic about,

0:33.1

and he knows much, much more about it than I do.

0:36.2

So I'm going to be led down the garden ponds and water garden path by Arthur.

0:43.1

1:23.5

before we had that put in. And the second thing is the beauty of the plants in it, which will

1:29.0

come on to. But the third and perhaps most important is I take a chair and I sit beside it or a little

1:36.1

bit away and I watch the bees, butterflies, hoverflies and birds both washing and drinking

1:42.9

on the sides of it because it's got a flat side to the water feature.

1:47.4

So I am now due to Arthur much, much more enthusiastic than I ever was.

1:53.3

So over to you, Arthur.

1:54.5

Let's get everyone making a pond or having a water feature.

1:58.5

Yeah, I mean, they were in fashion, weren't they, when it was ground force?

2:02.0

I remember Charlie Dimmock was the queen of ponds.
