This is the TMS Podcast from BBC Radio 5 Live. Tournament Sport, Daniel, and sometimes you do get to the end of a group stage, you see dead rubbers and you think, well, what's the point of all of this?

But this isn't the case in the men's tournament, indeed the women's competition are only dead rubber was the one

today. Yes I think that was the only pretty much dead rubber of the tournament

so part of it is because of the brevity of the tournament. So if you play eight games,

then there are more possibilities still in play. I think it's also the way the

tournament is designed, this draft pick business, so the sides of been the worst performing the year

before have the opportunity to rectify that a little bit as we've seen in the

women's tournament with the Welsh fire and I guess it's a testament to the fact that they just are quite evenly matched sides.

You know, they're not like in football, you know, where one side might have a load of money and they can splurge lots of it you've got a cap

and in the men's tournament particularly you don't have quite the same resources to choose from in the women's

tournament the very best players in the world are playing in the women's hundreds.
