This is CBS Eye on the World, I'm John Bachelors, COVID-19, the vaccine.

I welcome Dr. Henry Miller, a physician, the Glenn Swagger Distinguished Fellow at the

American Council on Science and Health, to help me understand where we are in the latest

iteration of vaccine from Pfizer, Moderna, and eventually Novavax.

Dr. Miller, Henry, a very good evening to you.

The vaccine is now approved by the CDC.

It is a booster, and it is especially good for my age, that R.H. said, Henry, over 65,

over 75 with preexisting conditions, and who has lived a life so lucky that preexisting

conditions aren't there, but in any event, comorbidities, the world gloomy way of putting

that.

Even that this new vaccine is recommended for all ages from about six months on.

Is that correct, Henry?

Good evening, too.

Yes, John.

It is.

And the way that the bureaucratic train works is that FDA evaluates the vaccine for safety

and efficacy, and then the CDC subsequently determines who they think should get it.

And so FDA sanctions the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines early this week, and then CDC recommended

the vaccines for everyone over the age of six months, up six months.

And this is an update on the series of vaccines we've had since 2021.

I've had mostly Moderna, but the last time was Pfizer.

That is not important.
