The numbers continue to soar and get more alarming by the day.

Florida officials on Friday reported 8,942 new coronavirus infections in the state, a

single-day record that eclipsed by more than 3,000 the previous record set only two days

before.

In Texas officials reported nearly 6,000 new cases, forcing Governor Greg Abbott to issue

an executive order, reinstating restrictions on bars, restaurants, and certain types of outdoor

recreation.

It's all part of a disturbing nationwide spike that has spooked public health officials

and thrown a major monkey wrench into President Trump's hopes of reviving the country's

economy, not to mention his fading reelection chances.
