Everybody wants us to be open, and the reason why people are closed is because they've tried being open.

And when they revealed their deepest sins, they were crushed.

And so we have learned to be very, very cautious about our nakedness.

Make a nusk carries with it the idea of humiliation.

We stand exposed to a holy God with nothing of our own to cover our shame.

This week on renewing your mind, we are concentrating on Dr. R. C. Sprawl series, The Holiness of God,

as he explains what God has done on our behalf to meet the demands of his holiness.

We continue now with our study of the holiness of God, and with our focus, as we've seen in the last few messages,

on the trauma of God's holiness, how frightening God's holiness is to us in our fallenness.

In our last session, we saw Simon Peter's response to Jesus' miracle of filling in that swit's fishes,

wherein Simon said that Jesus, depart from me for I am a sinful man, that how in our guilt, in our sinfulness,

we're uncomfortable in the presence of the holy.

We're looking for some refuge, some place to hide, some defense that will cover us from the unveiled gaze of God.

In the Old Testament, in the Book of Genesis, we read a somewhat unusual and strange incident that took place in the life of Noah.

After the Scriptures record for us the righteousness of Noah, the noble expression of faith that characterized him through his life,

and by which God redeemed Noah and his family from the ravages of the flood, we see an unpleasant episode in his life that takes place later on.

In the ninth chapter of Genesis, the verse 20, we read this,

and Noah began to be a farmer, and he planted a vineyard, then he drank of the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent.

And ham, the father of Canaan saw the nakedness of his father and told his two brothers outside, but Shem and Jepeth took a garment and laid it on both their shoulders and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father.

Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father's nakedness.

So Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his younger son had done to him, and then he said,
