Eater and I'm joined by my co-host Amanda Clute who is our editor-in-chief.

Hi Dan. Every week on the Eater Upsell we talk about what we're writing about on Eder.

We talk to our own journalists, we talk to voices outside of Eder, just to get a sense of what's

going on in the restaurant and food world.

What are we doing this week?

This week we're doing something very special.

We are partnering with the Southern Foodways Alliance on a piece that we co-commissioned

way back at the end of August about Hurricane Harvey, which hit

Houston, end of August, early September.

But first we wanted to talk a little bit with our journalists about how we cover disasters through the food

lens. It's kind of hard to sustain coverage of events like this.

Harvey happened in August and early September and since then it's you know mid-November now so many things have

happened. We've had two more giant hurricanes. We've had mass shootings and

earthquake in Mexico City,

whatever Trump has been doing,

Harvey Weinstein, John Besh.

So it's hard to ask your audience to...

The wildfires.

Yeah, the wildfires in Sonoma.

It's hard to ask the audience to care about something that seems so long ago.

But the reality is we want to remember these stories, we want to hear about them, and we want to know like how are these communities affected now.
