Everyone loves a good story and a good storyteller.

But there is no storyteller like the Lord Jesus,

and there are no greater stories told than the ones Jesus shared.

In this study, spiritual stories, we consider the parables Jesus told and their

application to us. These are truly the greatest stories ever told, and the Lord has something

he wants to say to you through them. Let's join Scott Pauley now.

Well, today you're getting two for one.

Two parables that are connected because these two stories are actually one and they have one great truth for us. They're found in Luke chapter number 14. You remember we're on a string of

parables here in Luke chapter 14. Jesus sitting at a table talking about so many things.

He's addressed the crowd that's there.

1:15.5

He's addressed the host.

1:16.6

He's had a conversation with one man at the table.

1:19.7

And when you come to Luke chapter 14 and verse number 28, our Lord begins another parable, really, too, with all of the multitudes that are there

with him. The Bible says in verse 28, for which of you intending to build a tower, siteth not down

first and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it, lest happily, after he hath laid the foundation and is not able to finish it, all that

behold it began to mock him, saying this man began to build and was not able to finish.

Or, what king?

Going to make war against another king, siteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to make war against another king, siteth not down first,
