Previously, unfictional, Edmund Dantest returned home and found himself quickly and unknowingly

facing a lot of enemies.

Denglar's wanted his job, Fernan Mondego wanted his fiance, and Katero said it was just

along for the ride.

Those three men falsely accused Dantest of being a bonapartist traitor because of a letter

he'd received from the exiled Napoleon and was now set to deliver to Paris.

They anonymously wrote a letter to the authorities and Edmund was arrested.

The deputy prosecutor, named a Villefort, discovered that the letter from Napoleon was addressed

to his estranged father, Nordea.

To save his own skin, Villefort shipped Edmund off to the gloomy prison from which no one

had ever escaped, no Na Shatto-Deef.
