Could the US or Israel use nuclear weapons against Iran? Now, this is a topic I've stood away from,

because I don't want to engage in sensationalist reporting, but it's impossible to ignore the chatter,

and so we're going to have to go through this utterly terrifying possibility today.

Now, people are talking about it. For example, Lydia Polgreen,

a senior journalist in New York Times, says, we need to take very seriously the possibility that

Trump will deploy a tactical nuclear weapon in Iran. What's disturbing is what retired senior

military figures are saying, among other things, which will come on to. Now, the US, of course, is the only country on Earth to have used nuclear weapons in warfare,

killing over 200,000 people by the end of 1945, after dropping nukes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

in the conflict with Imperial Japan towards the end of World War II.

Israel is the only state in the Middle

East to possess nuclear weapons, even though it refuses to officially admit that. Their nuclear

program was famously revealed by Israeli nuclear technician Mordecai Vunu in 1986. He was drugged

and abducted by Israeli spies from Italy and then imprisoned for 18 years,

most of which was in solitary confinement. Let's just rewind, first of all, to last year in the

12-day war between Israel and Iran, which culminated in US airstrikes strikes in which Donald Trump claimed he had obliterated

the Iranian nuclear program, which of course is just one reason that the pretext for this

illegal war in Iran is so absurd. Now, in the run-up to the US strike on Iran's nuclear facilities,

the Guardian at the time reported on discussions

in the White House about whether a bunker bomb would be effective.

Trump was reportedly not convinced that a £30,000 GBU 57 bomb would be effective.

Now, bear with me here, but it went on to say the following.

The effectiveness of GBU7s has been a topic of deep contention at the Pentagon since the start of Trump's term, according to two defence officials who were briefed that perhaps only a tactical nuclear weapon could be capable of destroying Fordow because of how deeply it is located.
