Summary

On this Monday Buckeye Talk from cleveland.com, Doug Lesmerises and Nathan Baird are celebrating a wild weekend of college football that didn't include the Ohio State Buckeyes, who were off. After several unbeaten teams lost, including Alabama, Doug and Nathan each give their projected four-team playoff bracket for the first time this season. Could both Ohio State and Michigan make the playoff if they're 11-0 when they meet? Doug and Nathan outline all the possibilities there. At 27:45, they start to reveal their playoff brackets. At 42:20, they discuss the offenses that impressed Saturday and whether they could give the OSU defense trouble. Then there's a Heisman Troop discussion around C.J. Stroud. In the final segment (59:46), it's Whatcha Watchin', Whatcha Eaten', Whatcha Thinking'? Thanks for listening to Buckeye Talk from cleveland.com. Learn more about your ad choices. Hey, hey, where you been, but got talk is about to begin, hey, hey, hey, come on in.

0:27.0

We'll come back to your Monday book. I talk to you on Monday's, which is look at Ohio State, look at the National College football scene and do what you're watching, what you're eating, what you're thinking, and the thing I'm thinking about Nathan is an idea about football.

0:41.0

Then I want to throw out to you at the end of this podcast, but we're going to dive in first Ohio State, obviously off this past weekend, but it was quite a weekend for gathering in for macho.

0:53.0

And the thing we're going to start with is the idea of what we think to play off might potentially look like.

1:01.0

I have some particular things about teams and how they played and what that means for Ohio State that I want to talk about later, but we're sort of this deal with the results first.

1:10.0

That's Bama losing the Tennessee, that's USC losing to Utah, that's Oklahoma State losing the TCU and that's Michigan blown the doors off of Penn State.

1:18.0

And what we think that would mean for a form team bracket and specifically for the idea of if we get to 11 and 11 and no Ohio State versus Michigan, how realistic Nathan, do you think it is that potentially both of the teams could make the playoff.

1:36.0

If it is a close game, if it's a well played game, if they look on the field on the last Saturday in November, like two of the four best teams in the country, could they both get in given what transpired this weekend.

1:51.0

I think they could both get in, but I think when I went through and did this process, I ended up with a lot of one lost teams.

2:02.0

And I don't know about you, but I don't want to be the big 10 one lost team trying to get in if there are SEC one lost teams trying to get in as well.

2:15.0

So let's start with a couple other conferences first because one of the things that I think I possibly believe at the moment is that the best teams in the pack 12 and big 12 might both already have two losses.

2:31.0

That would be Utah in the pack 12 and Texas in the big 12.

2:36.0

There's no undefeated teams left in the pack 12 and TCU remains undefeated in the big 12, but I do know I don't know how TCU is going to get through undefeated great double overtime win Oklahoma state blew it Oklahoma state to me was a team in the big 12 that maybe had a chance.

2:51.0

But more likely in Shahanjay Harajat I had the college football survivor show I've talked about this all year more likely the big 12 was always going to beat each other up and wind up with very potentially a two lost champ.

3:03.0

I think it's very possible that neither the big 12 nor the pack 12 even a world of where you say there's a lot of potential one lost teams out there.

3:12.0

I think it's quite possible that those two conferences don't present a one lost team. What do you think of that idea because obviously that affects this theory we're talking about right.

3:21.0

Yeah, I disagree with you. I've not been a big believer in Oklahoma state this season and I think it wouldn't shock me if they lost like four straight now they've got a tough stretch here.

3:33.0

And I definitely think they're not going to survive this is a one lost team that like rises from the dead so which probably means they will now so go ahead and just like snip that out and save it for when they do and the Cowboys can thank me for.

3:45.0

For getting their season going their next three games are Texas at Kansas state at Kansas I think somewhere in there they're losing at least one and they're done and TCU I agree I don't I think what they're doing is admirable and they've put together now four pretty solid wins at SMU Oklahoma.

4:02.0

At Kansas and then Oklahoma state being really the best one of those and but later this season at Texas at Baylor something's going to catch him I I that's there still I think the better chance of somehow getting through this with one loss.

4:20.0

I still would have them probably losing both of those games though when I mock this out not even and so I didn't even really mock out who was going to even be in the big 12 championship game and who then would win forward from that.

4:31.0

As I TCU and Oklahoma state just losing enough that with Texas already having a couple losses I don't think it's going to matter if you start putting too many to loss teams together though.
