Well greetings, my friends, patriots, lovers of democracy, truth and justice, believers and

peace, freedom and the American way Tom Hartman here with you.

There's a lot going on in the news today.

I shared with you, you know, I was thinking out loud about this on the area about, you

know, could Kamala Harris, their constitution says that the vice president basically has

two jobs.

Number one, the vice president is the president in waiting, you know, John Nance-Garner,

I believe it was, said that the vice presidency wasn't worth a warm bucket of spit or words

to that effect.

You know, because it was just like, hey, sit around waiting.

But the other job that the vice president is given by the constitution is president of

the Senate.

And when the president of the Senate is not there, that is the vice president, then the

president pro-tem, which is Latin for during a period of time or for a period of time,

the president pro-tem fills in for the president of the Senate.

And the official president pro-tem right now is Chuck Grassley.

That's the longest serving member of the majority party.

Now, that's written in the Senate rules.

It's not in the constitution, that's in the Senate rules.

That's the temporary president, right, the acting president.
