Several months ago, April overheard her husband Andy on a phone call with another woman in a sexually charged conversation. This discovery was just the tip of the iceberg and led to Andy’s disclosure of other sexually indulgent behavior that has taken place over the course of their 20-year marriage. These disclosures shattered April’s perception of their relationship. She had believed their relationship was solid and at times still cannot wrap her mind around the fact that Andy was capable of this type of betrayal. In this episode of Room for Two, Dr. Finlayson-Fife works with Andy and April to see how they each contributed to the marital dysfunction and, in particular, how Andy's dysfunction was expressed in deception and betrayal. She works with the couple to help them see what they can do to move forward, as well as bring more honesty and equality to their relationship. 0:32.4	I grew up a really good Mormon girl until I met
0:35.6	Andy in college and we dated and over time we had sex and lots of it. We had disciplinary councils from church and eventually got married.
0:48.0	And I think once I got married and from the disciplinary councils I just felt so much shame and I wanted to go back to kind of who I was before we got into all this trouble and so I really started repressing my sexuality and then as I became a mom I think that just further I shoved that down and
1:06.6	just really focused on being the best mom that I could be.
1:10.4	We did have sex it wasn't as much as Andy would want and I knew that but I felt like the church kind of had my back as I was just trying to be a really good Mormon girl.
1:21.0	I started researching healthy sexuality information for my kids actually and it ended up really helping me and I was starting to come out of my shell.
1:30.0	I was making progress but unfortunately I don't feel like it was maybe fast enough because a few months ago I discovered some
1:39.0	infidelity with Andy on the phone with another woman would just led to all sorts of
1:44.4	confessions about pornography over 20 years of our marriage, some dabbling and
1:51.1	sexting and just some other things so it my world just kind of came
1:54.9	crashing down and how many months ago was that April how long have you been?

2:09.5	helpful to you April, what would I help you with? Like what do you think you're needing? I just am having like, I just am having like waves of emotion where sometimes because we are sharing so much
