Good morning and welcome to the Independent Republic of Mike Graham, the home of Common Sense, on the occasion of the opening of COP 26.

The climate conference is to end all climate conferences.

As you can imagine, things aren't really going too well so far.

Thousands of activists and delegates couldn't get to Glasgow yesterday, thanks to a tree falling on overhead power line somewhere near Northampton,

which knocked out all the trains. Apparently, they've never heard of autumn in the climate change movement,

or indeed leaves on the line, or indeed the way that trains don't run in this country,

whenever there's a bit of bad weather. While all the private jets, meanwhile, have been arriving from all over the world,

they've generated more carbon pollution than the entire country of Scotland in a year.

Indeed, the 13,000 tonnes of CO2 dwarfs the carbon footprint of most of the countries actually attending the summit.

And that's for the 85 cars in the presidential motorcade from America.

Really, Joe? Really? 85 cars. Did you see them all piling into the Vatican? There was barely room to park them all.

85 cars for one bloke.

Surely they could have just put him in one of those pokemobiles with some, you know, bulletproof glass.

God's sake.
