Greetings and good old psychic smooches to you my friends.

0:21.0

It is really truly wonderful to commune with you as it always is.

0:27.0

I hope the fact that I say something similar at the outset of every podcast does not dilute my sincerity as far as that statement goes.

0:38.0

And I missed a chance just there for a skillful display of alliteration unfortunately because I was going to loop this into a rant about socrates.

0:52.0

I could have said something like speaking of socratic sincerity or something to that effect.

0:58.0

But instead I'll just take the more lumbering 90 degree turn into the wonder dip I wanted to kick this one off with.

1:07.0

The socratic aphorism that we're all overly familiar with the statement all I know is that I know nothing is cringely cliche on one hand.

1:19.0

But on the other hand I think there still is immortal profound epistemological truth in that statement.

1:28.0

It's not one that we should just brush off at least in the right context because yes it is said quoted or alluded to in a way that often rings hollow.

1:41.0

But at its core it really does remain profound because there is a level of unlearning and decontextualization you can hit that really does change everything that really does open up endless possibilities.

1:57.0

I'll see if I can explain it's the kind of unlearning that honestly usually takes an altered state to achieve.

2:06.0

But it can come on the match. However you do achieve it it's that subjective space where you profoundly and completely psychically undress where you totally undo everything you quote unquote no.

2:27.0

And I say quote unquote because I think we mistake familiarity for knowing you know we mistake our frontal lobe driven ego based default mode network soaked daily repetitions for knowing that's not really knowing anything it's mostly relying on repetition with an expectation of getting a familiar outcome.

2:53.0

But this kind of deep subjective knowing through unknowing that I'm talking about through directly psychologically confronting the reality that you know nothing you could say you know nothing beyond the ocean of cultural concepts we live within in that undoing the undoing of your habitual thoughts habitual ways of perceiving the world habitual ways of thinking about yourself.

3:22.0

And the things you do when you strip all that away something else comes into focus the open ended mystery that really underpins everything and then from there flows the realization that whoa everything I value or think I value is mostly a concept it's mostly a hollow construct driven by legacy and culture.

3:50.0

And even more perniciously your own neuroses and hang ups and possibly unfortunately trauma and when all of that comes into focus and drops away or you could say is unlearned through putting it down your idea of what's possible of what's valuable immediately changes.

4:13.0

And sometimes that instantly changes your mind or heals you or alters the way that you operate in the world for good and I'm not saying this is going to happen every single time but it can.

4:29.0

Case in point this is on my mind because the guest on this one doctor johan calm Cesare I hope I'm doing minimal violence to your name johan did have his life changed forever by such an undoing experience this experience sent him down a totally different life path he actually says it literally saved his life.

4:54.0

And for him this experience came via a fortuitously timed psilocybin experience and more specifically this experience catalyzed his decision to study neuroscience and philosophy and psychology and eventually get a PhD and author a very impressive upcoming book called the psilocybin connection psychedelics the transformation of consciousness and the evolution of the planet it's basically a comprehensive guide.

5:24.0

To psilocybin mushrooms and their impact on our psychology our biology and our development it is just about to come out in a few days wherever you find your books and dare I say based on its content and the contents of this mind meld I think it's going to be right up your alley right down your wonder well.

5:49.0

You can get that book the psilocybin connection on Amazon or wherever you get your books or via the link in the description and there we will have all of the information you're going to want on johan as well.
