If you have ever traveled internationally, well, most of us probably haven't in the last

year or so, but if you ever have, you probably notice when you go to a new country, you probably

have to fill out a form that says, are you carrying any agricultural products, any plants,

any seeds, and you know, if you're not a gardener, you might be like, why does this happen?

This doesn't make a lot of sense.

Who cares?

Well, there's a big reason why it matters.

And in today's episode, we're just going to talk about one of those reasons that can wreak

havoc and has wreak havoc on the citrus crops here in America.

This is the Asian citrus sillet, diaphragenia citri, citri.

It's an exotic pest that has just decimated the citrus crop in North America.

So how do we think about this?

If you're growing citrus in your house and in your garden, you do want to watch out for

this because it will mess up your citrus.

I'm telling you, why?

Well, there's something called citrus greening disease or HLB.

That's why.

That is why so much of the citrus in Florida has to get just doused in a bunch of chemical

nonsense because it's so prolific over there.

The Asian citrus sillet is a carrier of that disease.

So if that pest is in your garden, there may be a chance that that disease is in your

garden.
