Summary

Every day, people all around us live in a chronic state of dread, anxious about what tomorrow will bring.

Nations and economies are crumbling. News media agitates our deepest fears. It often feels like the ground is shaking beneath our feet.

In a time like this, it is critical that we continue to LIVE and LEAD out of deep rest in Christ.

But how do we break free from the gravitational pull of bad news and despair?

I believe we must recalibrate a biblical vision of HOPE. (Hint: it's more than optimism)

Let's be clear – this doesn't happen easily. We must contend for God's vision of reality and vigilantly pursue deep rest in Christ.

0:26.7	these days, overwhelmed, a sense of dread of what's going on around them. I mean, just look at the
0:31.8	headlines in any news media or social media, and it's alarming. Many of the people that we're leading are struggling with disorientation and lots of fears.
0:42.3	The ground seems to be shaking beneath our feet, nations, economies, ups and downs.
0:50.3	And our bodies, as a result, are filled with lots of anxiety.
0:53.3	And we feel the pressure and leadership of people around us living in such a place and state of unrest.
1:00.3	We feel ourselves and the people around us, much like it was in Habakkuk, Habakkuk's time, 586, 587 BC.
1:10.1	When he was sitting there in Israel,
1:12.6	looking at the enormous, powerful nation of Babylon
1:16.6	about to invade and crush the country.
1:19.6	And God says to him,
1:22.6	look at the nations and watch and be utterly amazed,
1:26.6	for I'm going to be doing something in your days
1:28.9	that you would not believe even if you were told. I'm raising up Babylonians, that ruthless and
1:35.5	impetuous people. And so I point out that text in Habakkuk because our world of unrest is not new. In fact, when I was in graduate school,
1:47.6	I took a course with the world scholar, a world historian in the Greco-Roman world of the
