| 0:00.0 | Hello everybody, welcome back to the Primal Potential Podcast. |
| 0:05.0 | I am Elizabeth Benton. |
| 0:07.0 | Thanks so much for joining me for another episode in the consistency 365 series. |
| 0:15.0 | If you don't know what this is, go back and listen to episode one of 365, |
| 0:20.0 | not episode one of the Primal Potential Podcast, right? |
| 0:23.0 | But within the podcast, we're doing this consistency 365 series. |
| 0:28.0 | We just launched on Tuesday, the 28th. |
| 0:31.0 | So if you go to the episode that aired that day, you'll get an understanding of what we are doing here. |
| 0:36.0 | But I'm popping in with these short daily messages in between our regular Monday and Saturday full length episodes to talk about the practical application of consistency. |
| 0:48.0 | What I believe that consistency is the missing piece and the reason that so many people are frustrated is that they have not built up this skill of consistency. |
| 0:58.0 | They jump from this approach to that approach and oh, somebody's doing that plan and I should try that and on again, off again. |
| 1:06.0 | But consistency is a skill we can build. |
| 1:08.0 | Now inside the consistency coaches, the consistency course is where I coach and teach about these strategies and I don't intend these short episodes to be accountability or coaching as much as I intend for them to be examples of how I'm choosing consistency in this season of my life. |
| 1:29.0 | This season of my life where I'm getting back into work after three years of having stepped back and I stepped back when Dagmy was born and then certainly didn't get back into things as planned after she died and then Roman was born and then it was adjusting to life with Roman and then the pregnancy with the twins and all of those different things. |
| 1:53.0 | So finding consistency is showing up in so many areas of my life, not just my work, but I am now in a postpartum weight loss phase and that is a huge priority for me and all of these things are happening while I have three kids under two, I'm planning a big nonprofit event for a nonprofit that I run that's the Dagmy Foundation. |
| 2:14.0 | What does it look like to choose consistency and today I want to share with you one of the tools that I come back to again and again, it's easily in the top 10 most effective, most significant tools I use for consistency and that is specificity. |
| 2:32.0 | I want to give you an example of how this showed up for me today. |
| 2:38.0 | I'm recording this on a Wednesday and on Wednesdays, Chris and I like to take Roman to story hour at the library. The challenge with that is it cuts my already short work block in half. |
| 2:54.0 | So I typically only work for a few hours in the morning and with story hour it kind of throws a wrench in things. It is very common on story hour days for me to feel like there's so much to do and there's not enough time. |
| 3:10.0 | And this is where specificity comes in because I feel this way when it comes to preparing dinner sometimes I feel this way when it comes to whether or not I work out. |
| 3:18.0 | This is how I use specificity. Overwhelm is undoubtedly a barrier to consistency. I'm too overwhelmed and then we spend our time trying to figure things out instead of being in action or we just don't take action at all because we're overwhelmed. |
| 3:37.0 | So when I feel that sense of pressure, that sense of overwhelm, the first thing I do is get very specific about what it is that I want to get done. |
