The topic this week is policy towards online social media and children.

My guests are Ari Cohn, lead counsel for tech policy

at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression,

and Claire Morrell, fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center

and author of the tech exit.

Claire will go first and give her views for five minutes,

followed by R.A. discussing his views

Thank you so much, Henry. So I'm going to just start by explaining why it is that I think

government regulation is needed to help protect kids online,

why we're seeing these laws and efforts, both in the United States and abroad to

age restrict kids access to social media or require parental consent to create a social media

account or efforts to require verification and parental consent for app store

access and app store downloads.

And then also we've seen in the last several years kind of across the United States,

states passing laws to require age verification for pornography websites.
