Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

We are in our last few days of preparation

for consecration to marry on December 8th.

And we are taking on the mind of Christ

by reflecting on his teachings in the sermon on the mount. So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit

It's call to mind all those who've promised to pray for

In Matthew chapter 5 verse 38. V. Jesus said,

You have heard that it was said,

An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.

But I say to you,

Do not resist one who is evil.

But if anyone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

And if anyone would sue you and take your coat, let him have your cloak as well, and if anyone forces

you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

Give to him who begs from you, and do not refuse him who would borrow from you.

This is a very misunderstood passage. Jesus is not saying we should be

spineless passive cowards who submit to whatever evil we face.

Jesus does not forbid self-defense.

We are not pacifists.

In John chapter 18, Jesus defends himself. More on that later. But in this passage, what Jesus

forbids is returning evil for evil. For we cannot overcome evil with more evil. We can only overcome
