New leaders often deal with two major issues. First, a new leader needs to overcome personal

and securities and lead with courage. Second, those who follow need to adjust their expectations

and follow with enthusiasm. Today, on Insight for Living, Chuck Swindall addresses these

unique challenges in a brand new teaching series about Joshua. In this study, we're looking

at the transfer of power from Moses to Joshua. If you missed our earlier programs, we'll

take a few minutes to catch up with helpful highlights. Chuck titled his message, Confident

Leadership, Ideal Response.

We must remember that anytime new leaders are called to fill the position in your company,

in the ministry you serve, whatever it may be, whatever church, you're a part of, the

new person will not be the older. Obviously, be a different voice, a different approach

to leadership, different style, and Joshua represents all that, but he doesn't call attention

to it. They have a focus and that is to move into the land, the Lord gives them. Part

of the reason he is so confident, it is all of the Lord. Four times in verses 13 and 15,

he refers to the Lord, their God. He gets to the half tribe, Melasa, and Rubin, and

Gad, and he says to them, this is the land where you are going to settle east of the Jordan,

but before that, you must cross the Jordan and fight with your other fellow Hebrews as

they take Canaan, you fight with them. It's a beautiful thing how they respond to Joshua.

Look at it in verse 16. They answered Joshua, we will do whatever you command us. We will

go wherever you send us. We will obey you just as we obeyed Moses. That was music to Joshua's

ears. Furthermore, they say to him, may the Lord be with you. May the Lord be with you as he

was with Moses. We will allow no one to rebel against you, be strong, and very courageous. I've

looked over these words carefully, and I'll do a little quick analysis that I did in my own study.
