What's up everyone? Welcome back to the show. Now today I was browsing around on

Craigslist and you know looking for some gardening supplies. I wanted to see if I could

pick up some stuff on the cheap. and what did I find but a local supplier of organic

straw bales? Now again, I live in So Cal, so Southern California.

So that's not something I'm often coming across,

especially because I'm in an urban environment, right?

So, especially the fact that he was going to deliver these straw bales, you know what I thought?

As I said, it's the perfect time for me to try straw bale gardening.

And so I had two of these bales delivered, one I will use for mulch and to bulk up my compost pile.

And the second I'm going to use for the straw bale gardening technique.

Now I've talked about it before on the podcast and so you can go back and reference that

episode if you'd like to hear a basic overview of why this system exists and what are some of the

benefits of it. However, today I'm just going to talk about the brief, brief

overview of how you get a bail from just being a straw bail into being a bail in which

you can actually grow vegetables in because if you just tried to

transplant directly into a straw bale it's just gonna everything is gonna die

nothing good is going to come of that.
