Last time we talked about how to communicate more effectively with your

teenager and today we're going to address the different roles that moms and

dads have in your teen's life. I'm John Fuller with Dr Danny Werta. He heads up

focus on the family's parenting department. Danny first thank you for what you do.

You and the team come in every day thinking how do we help how do we help and

you're not raising little kids anymore you've kind of graduated into the

young adult stage which is awesome every stage of parenting is great but this one

teens oh my goodness you need a you need a new level of learning to handle

teens and there are differences in the roles that

moms and dads have and the struggles our teens have with us. It's so complex, John, and

I don't want to generalize, but in general.

But I will.

Boys tend to struggle with video games

and it tends to be more of a concern from the mom's point of view and they'll

come in and say hey you need to get off the games you need to step back sometimes dads are a little more

understanding with that and they'll say you

know I used to play some video games yet it has become a big issue for boys a lot is

being sought out in those video games and and addictions continue to grow there.

And then for girls with social media, sometimes the dads will say, why are you constantly

on your phone?

You need to get off that phone and moms will have some understanding and say

well they're needing to be social they want to be connected yet we do need to have

...
