Well, the sports world was surprised to learn this week that a new deal had been struck between the city of Washington, D.C., and the Washington football team, the Redskins

now commanders, to move back to the RFK site

that has been for so long an item of much debate in the area and within the world of the NFL.

It's not surprising to me that this is the kind of deal that the new owner, Josh Harris and his

team could get done in such a short amount of time, even after all the consternation back and forth and debates during the era of former owner Dan Snyder.

But it does seem to me that this is going to create an interesting political dynamic moving forward.

Mayor Muriel Bowser has obviously been the focus of conservative ire for many a year

in Washington, given the fact that her lax policies have contributed to spikes in crime rates,

particularly in carjacking's and in violent and crimes of theft and the like that we've

seen spread across the region and continue

even after COVID. She obviously also leaned into the politics of the summer of George Floyd

with creating the Black Lives Matter Plaza and refusing to cooperate in many ways with federal

authorities who actually run the city.

D.C. is, of course, a place that is rife with corruption, dominated by Democrats, and also, of course,

houses the most important people politically in the country. And it's also a city that is in great
