Summary

If you know me, you know I love a good evening scroll on Reddit. In this episode, I’ve rounded up some of the most fascinating threads from my favorite subreddits—r/todayilearned, r/AITAH, r/unresolvedmysteries, and (of course) r/exmormon. We’re covering everything from the Japanese government to undercover Mormons to peanut allergies on a plane. This episode’s got range. I’m also sharing my own not-so-great run-in with a certain corner of Reddit—let’s just say I’m nursing a bit of a vulnerability hangover. Join the Girlscamp: After Dark Patreon account here. G-I-R-L-S-C-A-N-P is Girls' Camp.

0:11.2

Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Girls' Camp podcast.

0:14.3

I'm your host, Haley Rawl.

0:16.1

And many of you already know this about me, but I love an evening scroll on Reddit. Reddit is kind of my

0:23.7

wind down app. And yes, in an ideal world, I would be reading a book or meditating or something.

0:31.3

But alas, oftentimes before bed, I'm on my phone. And I found that Reddit is much better, much more low stimulation

0:39.9

than other apps on my phone. And I actually end up learning a lot, which is why I like the app too.

0:47.9

I also love visiting the subreddits for the shows that I'm currently watching. Like right now,

0:53.4

I'm watching Handmaid's Tale.

0:54.8

So I'll finish an episode of Handmaid's Tale and then go over to the subreddit to see what

0:59.6

other viewers are thinking about it. There's oftentimes really interesting opinions or people

1:03.9

noticing interesting things. So in that vein, I decided for today's episode to curate some of my favorite threads from some of my

1:13.1

favorite subredits. I've been preparing for this for a while, just taking note of the things that

1:18.7

stand out to me that I think would be fun to talk about with you. The subredits I have chosen for today's

1:24.6

little Reddit deep dive are today I learned, where people go to share interesting,

1:30.9

random facts, kind of more trivia stuff, but they oftentimes lead to rabbit holes that you can

1:37.0

go down. Like, I'll read something on there and then the link the Wikipedia page or whatever,

1:42.0

and then you can learn more context about it. So we have today I learned,

1:45.9

am I the asshole, which as the name suggests, is people coming to the internet to see if they are

1:52.1

the asshole or not in different situations, unresolved mysteries, which is unresolved mysteries,

1:59.6

and last but not least, the ex-Morman subreddit. Because I really do

2:04.4

love that sub-reddit. I feel like that's the place I go when I just want to see what ex-Mormons are
