Summary

I’m opening up today about the not-so-linear path of healing—what I’ve tried, what’s helped, and what’s still a big ol’ work in progress. From talk therapy to ketamine, psilocybin, and SSRIs, I’ve dabbled in a little bit of everything… and I’ve got thoughts. I’m also sharing a recent EMDR breakthrough that cracked something open for me—one that’s got me (begrudgingly?) learning how to actually ~love myself~. If you’re in the thick of it too, or just curious what this kind of work looks like, consider this your peek into the messy middle. Hello everyone and welcome to the Girls Camp podcast. I'm your host, Haley Rawl.

And today we are going to get into the messier, more vulnerable, more embarrassing,

0:53.4

even perhaps side of healing. I feel like I talk about

0:58.2

healing a lot, being on a healing journey. I think anyone who's left high demand religion or

1:04.4

has deconstructed something in some way, as you reconstruct, you are healing in some way or another. I also think that all of us have

1:14.4

things to heal from and we are all trying to heal in some way. And I feel like I'm always kind of

1:19.7

talking around this subject and this comes up here and there. So we are just going to dedicate

1:24.7

today to talk about healing and more specifically the harder

1:30.4

side of healing. If you didn't know already, I am going to therapy right now and I actually am

1:37.6

trying for my very first time EMDR sessions. I've done two. I have had some pretty major

1:44.1

breakthroughs that I want to talk to about

1:46.3

in depth. So I'm going to do that. But I also thought it would be interesting to talk through

1:51.1

the healing modalities that I've tried up until this point, the things I've liked, the things I

1:57.4

haven't liked, what I hope to try in the future, just all things attempting to

2:03.1

heal. A friend of mine actually posted something that I wish I took a screenshot of a little bit

2:08.7

ago, and someone was asking them in a Q&A, they don't talk all that much about leaving the church,

2:14.8

but they have left the church. And somebody asked them what their experience was like leaving the church, the Mormon church, in this specific context.

2:23.0

And they said something to the effect of leaving the church is not as advertised. It's actually
