This is Book of Mormon Central's. Come follow me insights. Today, the Book of Ruth and First

Samuels chapters 1 through 3. And we're really happy to have you come back again, Lisa. I'm glad

we didn't scare you off the first time. And we're really happy to have you come back again, Lisa. I'm glad we didn't scare you off the first time.

And we're excited about today because these stories we're talking about deal with women who are faithful to God and are a model for all of us, for how God is faithful to us when we're faithful to him.

So it's just great to have you with us today, Lisa.

It is exciting to have Lisa join us. And they're going to take most of the time. I just

wanted to say one little thing here at the beginning as you launch into this story of Ruth

and Naomi and later on Hannah. These are stories not of ease and comfort and of everything working

out perfectly the way that they would have intended. These are women who show us a Christ-like

example of how to move forward in the face of intense adversity and setback. And it's just beautiful to get

to celebrate the Christ-like attributes of these faithful disciples of Christ as we cover these stories

today. So as we begin, and we think about these women, there are a couple of things that really

struck me as I was reading these scriptures. First of all, the very powerful theme of love

and of basically the two great commandments that these women display an intense, deep love of God, and they display

a love of neighbor of others around them, so much so that they consecrate themselves to God

and to neighbor, to serving both.

Taylor has spoken in the past of the concept of Hesed,

and that word comes up multiple times in the verses

that we'll read today.

And that is, it's a Hebrew word,

which has to do with God's loving kindness.
