This is Scripture Central's Come Follow Me Insights.

This week, Matthew 27, Mark 15, Luke 23, and John 19.

So we're going to divide this week into two episodes.

In the first episode, we're going to focus on the trials with Pilate and Herod and

the scourging and the condemnation. And then the second episode, one of the most

important episodes in an entire four-year cycle of Come Follow Me, will focus on the events that

take place on Calvary's Hill as Jesus is crucified and willingly gives up the ghost.

Now, to begin, something we kind of mentioned last time is this idea that we often

create almost a competition between Gathsemini and Golgotha, almost as if you have to

pick a side to say where did the most suffering take place? I find it fascinating. The scriptures

never engage in those kinds of useless debates or forcing

a false dichotomy because the reality is, is Jesus went into Gassimony and begins the atoning

sacrifice process and it doesn't culminate or complete until he gives up the ghost, goes into the spirit world,

his spirit, and then three days later walks triumphantly out of the tomb.

That entire event is the infinite atonement.

And there's this forgotten middle part that we often overlook, and it's all of these

trials and the scourging and the condemnation that occurs from the chief priests of the people,
