To Bogah Columbia,

the president of Colombia's Gustavo Petro,

where you serve one term, he cannot succeed himself.

And he has many burdens upon a country that has long been seen as an ally of the United States

and open to the prosperity of the free world.

But now Gustavo Petro makes a remark in the course of these last days that seems a break from not only the intention of Columbia these decades, but also all the rest of the Americas, a break that seemed out of nowhere.

He made an announcement that he was leading Colombia to break diplomatic relations with Israel, in the midst of Israel's fight with

Gaza. I welcome Emmanuel Ottelengi, a senior fellow for the Foundation for the

Defense of Democracy's writing about this decision by Gustavo

Petro recently, and puzzling as to where it comes from and how it might connect to

others in the Americas who are sympathetic to Gustavo Petro's

revolutionary temperament.
