Good evening, everyone, everyone, welcome to a little Irish breakdown after dark presented by our friends at Fandul. I'm Vince. That's Brian. That's Trevor. And it is Tuesday night. So that means it is time to react to some CFP rankings. They just came out. We got them all written down on our notebooks. We're ready to roll. We've got some things to talk about here. And there are definitely things to talk about here. A lot of people, a lot of Notre Dame fans out there, very worried about what was going to happen because Alabama pooped the bed this weekend and lost to Oklahoma.

So what was that going to do to Alabama, to Oklahoma, and therefore, Notre Dame?

And so we got our answer.

And the answer mimicked what we saw from the AP poll and the coaches poll, to be honest,

which is interesting. And we're going to talk about it. So Notre Dame slides in at number nine. So we're going to talk about Notre Dame first. And then we're going to talk about the rest of the rankings after that, gentlemen. So here we go, fellas, Notre Dame at nine. What are your thoughts? Is that what you expected? Is it, you know, are you surprised? Like, where are we? I'm, I'll say this. I'm not, I did not expect it. Trevor and I both said today during our show that we kind of were preparing for 10, but you could make a case that they should be higher. And I, I said, I think you could make a case that they're going to be number eight. I just don't see any scenario in which the committee puts them ahead of two more SEC teams.

But so nine, nine is sort of like that happy medium.

I think that's a really good place for Nurtame to be right now.

Sure. Because now they're one upset ahead of them, you know, of one of, you know, Texas Tech,

Ole Miss, Oregon, or Oklahoma getting upset, or just playing poorly.

Again, we've seen the committee jump teams because one team plays poorly and another

team doesn't.

You know, Trevor and I were kind of talking about this before the show.

Remember when Notre Dame beat Wake Forest 28 to 7 and then beat Boston College 19

to 16, but then Oklahoma leaped them in the rankings back in 2015 because Notre Dame

wasn't playing well. And then there's a whole, all types of scenarios that go into, you know,

how it could go. But the point is, I think number nine is good

for Nurt Amin in two regards. One is, as I just said, it puts them one upset away or just a big

resume change away from jumping up and hosting or, and the second part is it gives them a little

bit of breathing room where somebody could leap them

and they're still in. The fear was you go to 10 and then somebody leaps you. Now you've got to get

leap twice. And when you look at the teams on that, you know, who they have left, you know,
