| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Dr. Berg's Healthy Keto and Interminate Fasting Podcast, where Dr. |
| 0:07.7 | Berg takes you on the journey for the truth about getting healthy and losing healthy weight. |
| 0:12.9 | Now, I know a lot of people on the ketogenic diet drink coffee and I drink coffee, but |
| 0:27.1 | the question is, is it healthy? Is it unhealthy? Can coffee actually lower your risk of disease? |
| 0:33.0 | Well, actually, it can. I'm going to list a few studies here down below, but I want to quote |
| 0:38.6 | a few. The first study involved 41,000 men and 86,000 women and these were regular coffee |
| 0:44.8 | drinkers and they found no association with an increased mortality rate in men and women. |
| 0:51.4 | Second study demonstrated that coffee consumption did lower your risk of type 2 diabetes. Next |
| 0:57.4 | one was a meta-analysis. This is a summary of a lot of different studies. This is what they |
| 1:01.6 | found. Coffee consumption may decrease the risk of liver, breast, kidney and even colorectal |
| 1:08.4 | cancer. Interesting. Next study, which all of these are going to be listed below, showed |
| 1:13.9 | that coffee consumption is not associated with risk of getting a stroke. In fact, they found |
| 1:20.0 | a moderate decrease risk of getting a stroke. Not significant, but moderate. And then there |
| 1:26.5 | was a four-year study involving 386,000 coffee drinkers. There was no evidence of any risk |
| 1:34.0 | of getting arrhythmias. That being said, I will say if you're a heavy coffee drinker and |
| 1:39.6 | you're drinking more than five or more, there was a few studies that showed an increased |
| 1:45.2 | risk of coronary heart disease as well as an increased risk of arrhythmias. But if you're drinking |
| 1:50.7 | a moderate amount of coffee or a small amount of coffee like myself, I do one cup every day. It's not |
| 1:56.5 | that large. It's strong, but it's like eight ounces of strong coffee once a day in the morning. |
| 2:02.7 | That's all I do. But apparently coffee has polyphenols. Those are antioxidants. Those are anti-inflammatory. |
| 2:10.2 | So a small or a moderate amount of coffee, I would highly recommend organic can be beneficial to |
| 2:17.0 | your health. Hey, before you go, if you're benefiting from any of my content, I would love to hear |
