0:12.3	I'm Tom Henshel, your executive coach, and today we're talking about coaching under attack.
0:21.3	Charlotte looked at me squarely and said,
0:23.9	You're not a business coach.
0:27.4	Was there a challenge in her statement?
0:30.3	I wasn't sure.
0:31.8	I had done a lot of homework leading up to this meeting with Charlotte.
0:37.2	Charlotte had been installed as the president at a consumer goods company almost a year ago.
0:43.7	Up until she arrived, this consumer goods company had been a great client of mine.
0:51.3	I'd been coaching senior leaders and their teams there for more than six years,
0:55.3	and then suddenly Charlotte arrived, and my spigot got turned off. I never knew why. My loyal
1:02.8	contacts in the company saw ripples just like that in many of Charlotte's actions. People said she was tough. They were hoping she was fair.
1:15.8	They weren't sure. Now, out of the blue, Charlotte's office sent me an invitation to meet with her.
1:26.8	Not knowing the agenda, I prepared a report for her, I showed my history of work with the company,
1:33.3	my company contacts polished the report for me, and they gave me coaching.
1:38.4	They said, be prepared to be grilled.
1:43.3	Well, I felt completely prepared.
1:47.6	So I met this opening challenge from Charlotte, was I not a business coach, with warm agreement.
1:55.7	Oh, absolutely, Charlotte, I'm a professional coach.
1:58.4	I'm not a business coach.
