Well hey everybody and

I'm welcome to episode 296 of the podcast. My name is Carrie Newhoff

and I hope our time together today helps you lead like never before. I am so

excited to have my good friend Mark Batterson back on the podcast.

He's been on a few times before he's a New York Times best-selling author also an

exceptional visionary. So he went into Washington DC D.C. in 1996, planted a church that really didn't take off for a few years and now reaches thousands of people across multiple locations and has had a profound impact on one of America's most important cities.

So we talk about that, but what I love and you'll hear this sort of fresh direction as I do more

and more in-person interviews,

but Mark and I talk about a particularly difficult time

in his ministry a number of years ago

where it wasn't going very well at home.

And his wife, Laura, who Tony and I know quite well kind of said hey I

didn't sign up for this and it changed Mark profoundly and any of us who have

led with some intensity,

you know, whether that's through growth

or you're just a driven person.

Yeah, sometimes that creates problems at home.

And how do you respond?
