0:16.3	Yeah, happy to be here.
0:19.1	Where are you coming to us from today?
0:22.2	I'm in Livermore, California.
0:24.3	California, nice.
0:25.6	What's the name of that city?
0:26.7	I don't think I've ever heard of that city before.
0:28.9	Livermore?
0:30.2	Yeah, where?
0:31.5	It was founded in around the mid-19th century, literally by guy named Robert Livermore.
0:38.3	And it was a cow town for a long time.
0:42.3	And then they put a Navy base training Navy base here in the middle of the valley,
0:48.3	50 miles from the ocean.
0:50.3	And then it was kind of vital, and that's where they decided to put the second atomic weapons lab on a square mile of land.
1:02.0	And the story they like to tell is that they were afraid the Navy would want their base back.
1:08.0	So the first building they built was in the middle of the runway.
1:10.0	So it couldn't be used as a runway anymore. Wow. So it was a Caltown and then a nuclear
1:17.5	weapons lab town and now it's largely more than anything a bedroom community for Silicon Valley.
1:23.0	Have you been there a long time? Yeah, to my surprise, I'd been here 15 years longer than I've lived anywhere,
1:31.3	which I never would have expected to actually be in California this long.
1:35.3	Well, we're going to get to that start, and we're going to get to that story.
