Welcome to The Lost Debate, a show for Politically Ecclectics. I'm Ravi Gupta. And this is a special

0:05.6

episode. We weren't planning on doing anything this week, but I wanted to hop on and talk a little bit

0:09.6

about what's going on at Open AI. The breaking news out of today is that Sam Altman is in fact back

0:15.8

after a five-day standoff between him and the board of directors. But let me take a step back.

0:22.1

You know, recently when I was flying back from India,

0:25.4

I watched the Navalny documentary from HBO, which I highly recommend.

0:29.8

And there's this harrowing, amazing scene in that documentary

0:32.9

in which Navalny and his team are deciding whether to call members of the Russian security apparatus

0:41.9

and try to trick them into admitting that they tried to assassinate Navalny.

0:47.0

And before they start making calls, Navalny tells the story what he calls Moscow for.

1:03.0

And Navalny is telling there's this legend of an FSB agent that opposition figures kept hacking in Russia.

1:04.8

And they kept hacking his email.

1:12.0

And apparently, and this could be apocryphal for sure, but apparently this FSB agent, his password was Moscow 1.

1:17.4

And then when he was hacked, he changed it to Moscow 2. And then he changed it to Moscow 3.

1:22.1

And then he changed it to Moscow 4, right? That's why they call it Moscow 4. And the lesson from this, from Navaldi's perspective is all these big, scary figures, sometimes they're super incompetent. And

1:28.6

sometimes people could be evil and incompetent. Sometimes they could be powerful and incompetent.

1:33.3

And I've been thinking about that a lot lately because there's just been so many Moscow

1:38.0

moments. There has been SBF. There is the WeWork bankruptcy. There's SoftBank, you know, this huge fund that seems to have made one bad bet after another.

1:49.3

And in many cases, instigated terrible behavior from some of those people like SBF and WeWork.

1:54.4

There's this new book, I think it's called The Fund, about Ray Dalio and Bridgewater, the biggest hedge fund in the world, which is jaw-dropping in just the

2:02.9

amount of incompetence and weirdness and just rather unimpressive behavior coming from what is the

2:10.4

biggest hedge fund in the world. There's the Binance indictment and charges that just happened
