Today we're going to be talking about a few cases that involve acute uncronic liver disease requiring liver transplantation.

So Sasha, do you want to go over the first case?

So the first patient is a mid-20-year-old female that was in a genetic emergency department with peripheral edema and jaundice hemicides.

She had no real past medical or surgical history, but did have a pertinent social history of three to four of friends daily since she turned 21.

On a rapidly-marmed serum, her lads were available for a total billar ribbon of eight to a point four, an iron r of three, for a meld of 26.

She was worked up by a gastroenterologist to determine alcohol on versus underlying hepatitis and was determined to be acute oconic alcohol related liver failure.

There were a major of her workup included an EGD that was without barricades.

By the time she presented to transplant clinic, she had a meld of 30 and malensethylopathy with control disabilities.

She underwent orthosophage liver transplantation several months later.

The next patient is also in her late 20s.

She presented with a domino swollen pain that was down to how the acute alcohol of hepatitis with a meld of 31.

She did not have any pertinent medical history, but she was a heavy drinker up to about 20 standard brints per day.

She was ultimately listed with a meld of 41, and was transplanted shortly thereafter, about one month after her initial presentation.

Now that we've reviewed these cases briefly, let's get into some questions.

Dr. Gerber, we've seen in the recent years, especially with the pandemic, significant increase in the alcohol being consumed by people, and especially alcohol related deaths increased by 25%.
