Hi, my name is Pete Scazzara. I want to welcome you today to the emotionally healthy leader podcast. Great to be with you. Our theme today is clinging to gratitude or creating a cultural gratitude in the midst of disappointments and setbacks. And this is such a core topic and it's such a wonderful time to address it, at least here in the United States.

We are about to celebrate Thanksgiving, which became a national holiday actually during the Civil War in 1863 when Abraham Lincoln declared a national holiday.

It's so amazing about that.

In this Civil War, 618,000 plus soldiers were killed. And yet Lincoln understood something

about creating culture, wholeness, healing God

to declare this national holiday,

and it's been here ever since,

on a 4th Thursday of every November, the country to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Canada has a similar holiday in October, but it's a great moment, and it has been for me

every year pastoring because I would do a sermon on thankfulness.

And so I ended up spending, you know, decades, actually, at least once a year doing a fresh

study around the theme of thankfulness and really serve me, changed my own life and our family.

And so I want to invite you not just today to listen to me for you because we are the

cultures we create.

But I want to give you some specifics about how you might approach this with your own
