I do not even know where to begin today.

I almost didn't get this episode out because I had a little bit of an emergency here at the household.

Actually not really, but if I had listened to the message that I received from the IRS about a pending lawsuit

and then I needed to call back immediately to resolve the issue,

or I should say if I had believed that message perhaps it would have actually been an emergency or crisis at the house.

However, I've received those calls before, I've gone online and I've googled the numbers,

and it almost immediately comes back as a scam website or a scam phone number.

But what I've never done is actually called the number back.

So that's what I did this morning because for whatever reason they called me twice,

and it blows my mind that people fall for it.

I think to the vast majority of people who would receive a call or even hear a message like that,

it would ring as if something was off, which it certainly did for me and it has every time in the past.

But they're obviously doing it because somebody is falling for it and they're making money.

So I had a little bit of extra time this morning and I said screw it.

I'm going to call these people and maybe play with them a little bit, see what these calls sound like.

And I would say it took one second for me to realize,

and hopefully it would take no longer than that for anybody else to realize that it is obviously a scam.

But like I said, I had a little bit of time on my hands, so I had some phone with it.

And then I also realized that I had a recording device right next to my phone,

so I threw it on speaker and moved the microphone nearby.

And yeah, this is what it's going to sound like if you call one of those internet scammers back.

Investigation department with the internal revenue service. That's going to help you.
