Summary

In the latest episode of Film Stories with Simon Brew, a testing sequel, and a surprising comedy. Clear And Present Danger (1994) was expected to be a smoother production after the difficulties of forerunner Patriot Games. Spoiler: it wasn't. As for Instant Family? Had it not been for the two Daddy's Home movies, the terrific comedy-drama might not have happened at all. Stories of both are discussed in this episode. And movies. Movies that had stories.

0:15.7

The story just sucks them in. This is just the beginning.

Hello and a very warm welcome to film stories with Simon Brew. I am Simon Brew as always.

That's absolutely everything you need to know about me. The aim of the podcast, however, we're here to talk of the stories of films as the title pretty much gives away. So what I tend to talk about

0:40.9

production, stories, development stories, behind the scenes stories, things about really the

0:45.1

journey that a film takes from its conception through to its release and sometimes afterwards

0:49.3

as well. The films that I tend to choose for this podcast have a bit of a mainstream

0:53.8

leaning really and also

0:55.6

their films I have some degree of investment or interest in. I don't do snark, plenty of other

1:01.6

places you can get that. I'm just really fascinated by just the sheer industry, the effort and

1:07.7

almost the fluke really in getting a story idea to the big screen

1:11.7

for us all to see and enjoy. The two films I'm kicking off 2020 with in the podcast, though,

1:18.6

they're two films I really, really like a lot. And I'm going to start by taking us back to

1:23.3

1994 to what I think is one of Harrison Ford's best ever films.

1:29.9

I'll play you a clip. I'll pick up the story the other side of this.

1:38.3

Yeah.

1:39.4

Bob, Jack, Ryan, here.

Good morning, Jack.
