Claudia, thank you for meeting with us today.

We have been talking about your work internally here.

Me, Sam, and Lee.

Lee couldn't make it.

He's actually on his way to New York City for SCBWI.

But we are just so enamored with the work that you're creating and I'd like to kick off my I guess

the initial conversation starter here is why children's books why you know what was it about

that that made you want to be a part of that world?

I'm going to give you a little bit of my background, which is really quick.

I really wanted to make pictures that would say something.

I didn't want to go into visual arts, but I really wanted to say something. And like illustration when I

was planning to go to college was not an option. But I started with political cartoons, but I saw

that those were very ephemeral. Like next day, they don't mean anything. And no, it's terrible.

It's a very good training button.

And then I went into educational books, graphic books,

because I really want, I believe in education,

in changing societies, beliefs from where I was young.
