David Deiner is with us today. He is Professor of Education at Hillsdale College and author of Plato, the great philosopher, educator. He joins us today to update us on the state

of classical education in America, a little tiny topic and he's going to be the authority for us to give us an overview of things.

First of all, Hillsdale is now one of the central points in the classical education movement these days.

Tell us just generally, you're in the education department.

What's happening at Hillsdale? Actually, first, when didn't you come to Hillsdale? When did you start there?

And what is the teaching that you do? Sure. I came to Hillsdale in 2018. And when I came,

I was both the headmaster of Hillsdale Academy, which is a private classical Christian K-12 school that the college owns and operates here on our campus and also a professor in the education department.

So I was doing full-time administration and teaching as well.

Two years ago, we launched a master's degree in classical education.

And as part of that launch of the master's degree program,

I moved over into a professor role full time and set aside the administrative duties.
