We're hoping on this week's episode of the Paracast that Chris O'Brien's connection difficulties are behind him.

Well, yes, we do. I had a tech over here, and evidently this particular leg of their network

has a lot of noise on it, and they've been spent the last week and a half, two weeks. They're

still trying to track it down

and I said well you know why would there be noise and he said well the monsoon may have done

something we may have had a cable get some water in it somewhere he says but most of the time it's people

wiring up their own you know putting splitters in and wiring up cables to sort of bootleg

cables to other rooms and stuff. And they don't do it right and that creates noise. So they're

slowly trying to winnow it down to which section of this particular part of the grid that's

creating the problem. As now, I'm five up and 30 down,

so I'm doing pretty good. Well, you're sounding pretty good, which is fine. Of course,

we will have Skype connections with Kathleen Martin and Stanton Friedman later. We'll have to see

what kind of speeds they get. The key to Skype, if any of you are using Skype, the key is your

upload speed. Most of the connections managed in the cloud, but your upload speed has to be good

enough. And it's not that much. It's less than a meg-up is sufficient to get your good performance.

It's just voice. It's not video. If you're doing video, all bets are off.

Exactly. So before I upload that conflict in the desert video, I'll make sure my upload speed is cranking along at 5 meg.
