So there was a survey done like one that has happened from time to time in recent years.

This one was done by creditcards.com and it tracks with something that I did as a TV reporter

about five, six years ago where we randomly had people who we walked up to on the street

call a credit card company to see if they could lower the interest rate on their card.

And so creditcards.com did a survey of both men and women and found that if people called

and asked for a lower interest rate more than half got it in one phone call just by asking.

Think about that.

You just accept that whatever interest rate the credit card company tells you, that's

what you're paying.

But more than half of the time you can get a lower rate.

And that's the least successful people are asking their credit card company for something.

Nearly three and four who asked to have an annual fee waived or lowered got it.

85% who asked got a late fee waived.

85%.

I mean, you don't even have to make up some story.

Say, I'm sorry.

I made a mistake.
