I have the great honour and privilege of welcoming my colleague, it must be said,

friend, Steve Pierce, who frankly is God in the field of EU law. What Steve doesn't know about

EU law, frankly, is not worth knowing. And so he has an insightful he'd acknowledged. Now,

I can give you his long, C.P. But frankly, you want to hear from him, not me.

The fact is he's a start, and we're very lucky to having.

So, thanks.

I chose, I thought, to focus on EU citizens and UK citizens' rights and how to enforce

those rights. And I'll discuss it not just from an abstract sort of academic point of view,

but also very much the point of view of having had a lot of interaction with the public on

this issue, mostly in the worst possible place to have an interaction with

the public on Twitter, but sometimes the best possible place.

And this is very much one of those topics, others, that are subject to a lot of public

misunderstanding and on which a lot of individuals have personal anxiety because, you know,

five million people are potentially affected by the question of what happens to the rights of the

groups of people on both sides after Brexit. And inevitably now becomes a legal question,

less theoretical, very much than it was before.
